Somera-GilMr. Somera is a native of Stockton, California.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Davis and his Juris Doctorate from Humphreys School of Law.

Mr. Somera’s work background and experiences have been essential to his success as a lawyer.  His work experience includes over 20 years of successful business management in both the corporate environment and small business.  During his college career at the University of California at Davis, Mr. Somera worked full time as the Executive Vice President of a multi-million dollar warehousing and transportation company.  While going to law school at night, Mr. Somera worked full-time as one of the top representatives and managers of the Thomson Corporation (NYSE:TOC) in their legal publishing division.

Mr. Somera is a Trial Attorney and focuses his law practice on DUI and Criminal Defense, Civil Rights, and Personal Injury.  Mr. Somera is also counsel to several corporations and small businesses.   Mr. Somera knows how to handle matters that require discrete negotiations or aggressive trial preparation and he handles each case with determination and confidence.  Mr. Somera is constantly thinking “outside the box” to achieve the most favorable results for his clients.

Janell Freeman Somera, Esq.

Janell Freeman Somera received her Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and her Juris Doctorate degree from Lawrence Drivon School of Law. She practices Immigration and Business law with the Somera Law Group in Stockton, California. 

After college, Janell went to work for a Fortune 500 company where she was recognized as one of their top performing representatives. While attending law school, Janell worked as a business development director at a private equity investment firm. She was also a member of the Consuelo M. Callahan Inns of Court and she also interned at the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s office.

Janell is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is fluent in Spanish and has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, India, Europe, and the Middle East. 

Janell is the legal writer and an advisory board member at Vision Magazine. Janell serves on the San Joaquin County Probation Department’s Community Accountability Board. She is an executive board member of the San Joaquin County Business Council. Janell is an executive member of the San Joaquin County Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Section. Janell serves on the March for Babies Executive Committee and also serves on the house committee at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. 

Janell teaches Constitutional Law to high school students and gives speeches to teenagers on the dangers of drinking and driving and how their choices have consequences. She gives speeches to students on etiquette and dressing for success. Janell does pro bono cases and is active with many legal clinics, assisting people who are stranded without counsel. Janell is also a member of Stockton Rotary and Stockton's Executive Women.

Trina Cervantes, Esq.

From legal secretary to Certified Law Clerk and Firm Administrator, Ms. Cervantes has gained invaluable knowledge of not only the legal system - in and out of the courtroom - but, also the personal aspect of every case. She is intimately aware of the anxiety that her clients endure throughout the legal process and has committed herself to being there for each client every step of the way to secure the best possible outcome.

While pursuing her Juris Doctorate degree at Humphreys School of Law in Stockton, she worked hand-in-hand with Mr. Somera and other prominent attorneys in the area to achieve successful judgments in hundreds of cases, varying from murder defense to prosecuting police assault and civil rights cases.
